Here is what I see alot of newbie and in some cases some intermediate webpreneurs doing :
- They keep buying the information product after information product on how to make money online
- Since they feel that they must know EVERYTHING, they buy all the books and all the courses they can find.
- They then study these courses and analyze them to death. They buy a few more tools and then try to figure it all out
- After having been paralyzed by overanalyzing, they finally take action
-The majority of them fail on their first try. After they fail, they buy more books and courses and reproduce the exact cycle mentioned above.
If you are doing this, then you are going about it the wrong way.
Here is what I would recommend :
- Study the right books (theory+practice)
- Immediately start by applying what you are learning
- WHEN your first attempt to make money fails (because it will 90 % of the time)
- Study, and analyze what could have gone wrong and TRY AGAIN !
- You will need to continually refine this process UNTIL you succeed
That is why I like to define success as a journey and not a destination. It is a process that usually starts off with failure.
It’s just like a toddler trying to walk. They get up, fall down, and get up again UNTIL they finally walk, which is something that is inevitable.
Even if you have 99 days of failure, it takes only 1 day of success to forget these 99 days.
Failure is not your enemy. Failure does not define you. Failure prepares you for sustainable success.
The hype on money making opportunities on the net make people think that they will succeed immediately or on their first try. If you have fallen for any of these claims, then you would have also probably been discouraged at some point and time.
Expect to fail in the beginning. Like I mentioned above, success is a journey and not an event or a destination. Success is a process of making mistakes, learning from them and perfecting your implementation UNTIL you achieve your desired outcome.
This is where mindset and attitude are indispensable. Your mindset conditions your perseverance, your confidence, and your belief. The fact is that many people lack the confidence to believe that they could actually make this work. So, when they try things out, they expect to succeed overnight, and where they don’t they don’t have the inner strength to get back up and try again. They find themselves blaming themselves, others or their circumstances.
The reality is that unless you win the lottery, NO ONE succeeds overnight. In fact, overnight success is not the best thing for you because you may not have developed the broad shoulders needed to carry and sustain this kind of success.
Understand, and be aware that your efforts could show some fruit only in 6- 24 months. These months could be filled with all kinds of trials and errors. These however, are the ingredients you need to get your online business up and running in FULL and sustainable profitability. Having these kind of realisitc expecations frees you from the deepest of frustrations.
Buying and reading relevant courses to your business model is good, but if it does not push you to action, then you are accumulating theory and information which will eventually wither away. Every new tip, technique or strategy you learn needs to be tested and implemented. It is good to be want perfect and excellent quality, but if you are on your first try, then don’t put unecessary pressure on yourself – take action and do something.
There is no avoiding failure before success. Success will recognize you only when you have conquered your fear of failure.
Put it this way…just commit yourself to ONE thing, and one thing only. Don’t try to take on too many projects at the same time. All this will simply reduce your level of focus, and without focus, nothing significant will be achieved.
Even though you could rapidly be in profit, give yourself some buffer time. Assume you will fail pretty bad on your first few tries. What is most important is how you will respond. You will need to observe the results, see the flaws and try to improve on this.
Don’t try to compare yourself to the “big dogs” right from the start. Don’t forget that when they started, there were other big dogs out there….they had to learn and grow, and so will you. These guys now have 200 times more resources and experience than you do today, so comparing with them will do you no good. Don’t try to buy the blue magic pill. Real success will come after your tears and blood; It will take your energy your time and plenty of failure.
Get your mind right, get your confidence and self-esteem in the right place, and you will be amazed at how bold you will be, and how little you will need to get to your desired outcome (leads, sold products, publicity, credibility etc)
